Atagema ornata
Atagema ornata (Ehrenberg, 1831)
Images taken at Bare Island, NSW, Australia
A brownish red dorid species with a white or sand coloured medial line running from between the rhinophores down the length of the body to the gills. The body is covered in large tubercles covered by caryophylidia. NSSI 2 describes this species as Atagema intecta (Kelaart, 1858), which can cause confusion in the nudibranch community as they are the same species. The common approach is therefore to resort to the initial identification by Ehrenberg in 1831.
