Jorunna pantherina (Angus, 1864)

Images taken at Chowder Bay, NSW, Australia

The colouring of Jorunna pantherina is varied from white to much darker browns. They take on the colour from the food source they feed on, typically sponges and can be cryptic. The body is wide that covers the foot and is covered with with closely packed caryophyllidia and darker spots of the same colour as the body. The gills are arranged in a circle around the anal papilla giving it a 'fluffy' appearance. Found intertidally they are often found under boulders or other objects like wood from the pylons off the pier that lays on the substrate.
