A member of the Polyceridae family they are elongate with a high body shape. The rhinophores are lamellate, retractile into pockets that may have sheaths. The gills are generally non-retractable and positioned midway down the dorsum in a cluster. They are green with darker green or black lines on the notum and sides of the body. The gills and rhinophores are blue or with blue tips.
Tambja tenuilineata feeds on a Bryzoa called Bugula dentata.
